THAT ALL MAY BE ONE Strathmore University Foundation supports Strathmore University and Strathmore School in Kenya as a US based 501 (c) 3 registered Non-Profit organization.
To stock the newly completed library building (funded with a grant from the European Union) and to fulfill its charter goal, Strathmore is engaged in a campaign to source and shelve 80,000 books from North America. Friends are sought to help leverage this bold effort to address Kenya’s acute poverty of books.
Strathmore has organized an intensive, full-time acquisition program in the United States with a full-timeproject director and a rented processing and dispatch center. Dr. Andy Sicree, a geologist, bibliophile, and former teacher at Strathmore, heads the project from his hometown in State College, PA.
Founded as Kenya’s first multi-racial A-level college in 1961, Strathmore University specializing in commerce and information technology. Strathmore is known for its quality in both professional education and personal formation. Today women constitute half of its student body. Through its highly successful Accountancy Program, Strathmore trains two thirds of all of Kenya’s certified public accountants.
As an innovative, well-managed, high-minded educational institution with a peerless reputation and ability, Strathmore has an important role to play in Kenya’s development. Many of Kenya’s future leaders and managers will be Strathmoreans. Strathmore’s library will be the backbone of all its efforts. The Strathmore book acquisition project will have an enormous impact at an already highly effective institution, making an immediate contribution to the improvement of Kenya’s future.
