 Introduction

Find out more about the upcoming debate on Globalization of Education.

This debate provides a much needed forum for exploring issues around the globalization of education.

Is education a merchandisable, for-profit commodity or a public service? How effective will globalization of education be in addressing the divide between haves and have nots? Is globalization of education merely the market distribution of content or are there aspects of diversity, social networking, and cultural exchange in the mix? Join us as we debate these and other globalization of education issues.

This is an exciting new kind of event with two parts. Part one is an online forum for delegates and international participants to discuss the topic and shape the event in advance of the debate. Part two is the debate itself taking place live before onsite delegates and webcast simultaneously to an international online audience.

Part One: Pre-Debate Online Forum

Prior to the debate delegates and online international participants are invited to discuss the pros and cons of globalization of education online. The online forum also provides an area where questions to be put to debaters can be submitted. Everyone is invited to post their questions in advance of the debate. Moderators will use these questions during the live event..

Part Two: “Live” Debate Onsite and Online

The debate will occur live for IFC delegates in Washington and simultaneously webcast over the Internet live to online participants around the world. During the debate moderators will use questions from the pre-debate online forum as well as “live” questions from both onsite and online participants.

As the first event on the second day this session promises to be lively and provocative. Build your anticipation by participating online in advance. Join in stimulating the discussion with your own thoughts and questions. Interact globally while participating locally. We think you’ll find this event the centre of ensuing second day of events at the International Forum on Investment in Private Education.
