Thomas H. Pyle,
Executive Director
Appointed in September 2003, Mr. Pyle is a project, finance,
and development professional with experience in banking, education,
and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining
Strathmore University Foundation, Mr. Pyle served as Director of
Development of the United States Rowing Association, the national
governing board of the sport of rowing in the United States and
organizer and administrator of the United States Rowing Team.
Mr. Pyle worked in
international banking most recently as Head of Project Finance for
Sweden’s SEB Bank in New York, where he managed financings in the
electric power and telecommunications sectors. Earlier, he served in
similar capacities with Bank Austria and Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong
and Chase Manhattan Bank in Korea. He began his banking career with
Morgan Guaranty Trust Company in New York.
In the education arena,
Mr. Pyle was a founding delegation member from the U.S. Commerce
Department that established China’s first school of modern
management at Dalian University of Technology in 1980. He also
served from 1976 to 1978 as an English instructor at Singapore’s
Nanyang University. He currently serves as trustee and treasurer of
Princeton-in-Asia, Inc., an international
educational exchange organization.
Mr. Pyle received a
Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Princeton University and a
Master of Business Administration from Harvard
University.
